The Oak Harbor High School baseball team clinched second place in the Wesco 3A North standings and a home playoff game with a 10-5 win at Everett Monday, April 22.

Mike Maletto ripped two doubles and drove in four runs to lift Oak Harbor to a 9-0 lead after three innings in the win over the Seagulls (0-11, 1-13).

Jack Richter pitched a complete game six-hitter, striking out three and giving up only two earned runs.

The Wildcats jumped out of the gate with four first-inning runs. Brent Mertins singled, Richter reached on catcher's interference and David Kusnick singled to load the bases. Cory Cameron drove in one run with a base hit, then Maletto cleared the bases with a three-run double.

Oak Harbor added five more runs in the third. Richter walked and Kusnick singled in front of a two-run double by Danny Wolfe. Maletto doubled in Wolfe, then Anthony Stewart tripled in Maletto. Andrew Snavely's sacrifice plated Stewart.

The Seagulls, after getting single runs in the fourth and fifth, got back into the game with a three spot in the sixth.

Oak Harbor finished the scoring with a seventh-inning run. Stewart singled, stole second and scored on Teddy Peterschimdt's base hit.

The Wildcats (9-5, 10-7) finish the regular season with three crossover games against the top three teams from the Wesco South. The first game will feature two of the league's hottest teams when Oak Harbor travels to Snohomish to face Glacier Peak (10-4, 12-5) at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. The second-place Grizzlies have won six straight, Oak Harbor eight.
