Oak Harbor High School boys golf team finished third in the first of five Wesco 3A North matches Thursday, March 21, at Everett’s Legion Golf Course.
The five Wesco 3A North schools will each host the other conference teams once this spring. The teams meet up next at Whidbey Golf and Country Club at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 26.
Before that meet, the Wildcats take part in a six-team nonleague par-3 tournament at 2 p.m. Monday, March 25, at the Battle Creek Golf Course in Marysville.
Host Everett won the Wesco North meet Thursday with a 391. Stanwood shot 413, Oak Harbor 443, Marysville Getchell 452 and Marysville-Pilchuck 458.
Raiden Poe paced Oak Harbor with an 87, one shot better than Steven Timm and Quinnton Wallace. Jerin Applegarth and Hunter Adams each shot 90, and Caleb Knaack carded a 93.
Coach David Smith said the rain/snow mix stopped and the sun broke through just as the match was starting, but the course was wet with fast, tough greens.
He added that each of his players had “a couple of blow-up holes.”
