Leete earns medalist title; Wildcats finish 7th | Girls golf

Annie Leete gathered medalist honors and her Oak Harbor High School girls golf team placed seventh in the 10-team Whidbey Shootout at the Whidbey Golf and Country Club Tuesday, March 19.

Jackson ran away with the meet with a stroke total of 480, 39 ahead of second place Kamiak (519). Oak Harbor finished with 553, just 10 shots out of fourth.

Leete shot an eight-over 81 over 18 holes to claim the individual title in the field of 86.

Oak Harbor coach Andy Wesley said Leete struggled early but picked up her play over the final nine where she shot 39.

Following Leete where a pair of Jackson golfers, Renee Kwak (83) and Laura Gay (89).

Wesley said this was the strongest field ever in the Shootout with six teams shooting under 550. Last year only two hit that mark.

KC Winfield finished with the second-best score for the Wildcats, a 104. Bree Roderos shot 108, Cassidy Gurich 119 and Katie Brockway 141.
