Bagby earns college scholarship

Mike Bagby, a student at Whatcom Community College for the last two years and a graduate of Coupeville High School, has received a scholarship to attend Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, Calif.
Bagby played basketball at Whatcom Community College and was one of the Orcas team captains last season.
He was on the NWAACC all-star academic team and a first-team NWAACC all-star in basketball.
Chris Scrimsher, basketball coach at Whatcom Community College, said Bagby also won the 2008 Red Lion Scholarship Award.
The award-winner is chosen from all the schools in Washington and Oregon, Scrimsher said. It is quite a prestigious award to win.
