The Oak Harbor High School boys golf team got off to a solid start by placing second in a four-team match at Whidbey Golf and Country Club Monday, March 11.

Edmonds-Woodway won the match with a stroke total of 430, followed by Oak Harbor, 437; Lake Stevens, 441; and Monroe, 471.

Quinnton Wallace paced the Wildcats with an 80 over 18 holes. Hunter Adams carded an 86, Jerin Applegarth 87, Raiden Poe 90, Caleb Knaack 94 and Steven Timm 94.

Coach David Smith said, "Quinnton stepped up and played a great round with an 80. Hunter also shot a steady 43-43 to round out with an 86. Overall, I was very happy with the team's results. It was our first match and first time paying 18 holes, so I can see this team getting lower and lower scores in future matches."

Oak Harbor is off until 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, when it faces Stanwood, Marysville-Pilchuck, Marysville Getchell and host Everett at the Legion Memorial Golf Course.
