The Deception Pass Sail and Power Squadron presents Americas Boating Course on two consecutive Saturdays, June 14 and 21 at Skagit Valley College in Oak Harbor.
The class will meet from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Hayes Hall, room 113. This eight-hour class covers boating basics including rules of the road, boating safety, required equipment, navigational aids and radio operations.
Boaters who pass the course qualify for the new Washington State Boater Education cards, which are now available for $10.
This card is required for operation of any power boat or personal water craft if you are 20 years of age or younger. It is also required for equipment rental at some locations.
The cost of the course is $25 per person. Spouses or family members who share a book are charged $15.
