Tigers trip up Coupeville | Boys basketball

Granite Falls scored in double figures in every quarter to defeat the visiting Coupeville High School boys basketball team 62-27 Tuesday, Jan. 29.

The Wolves couldn't keep pace as they played crazy-eights, scoring eight points in each of the first three quarters.

The Tigers (4-8, 8-10) motored to a 15-8 first quarter lead and extended the margin to 35-16 at halftime and 48-24 after three quarters.

Nick Streubel paced the Wolves with 11 points, followed by Morgan Payne and Aaron Curtin with five each, and Joel Walstad and Carson Risner with four apiece.

Drew Benson, Karl Spencer and Dan Matalomani combined to score 38 points for the Tigers.

The Wolves (0-13, 1-18) wrap up the Cascade Conference season at home at 7 p.m. with first-place King's (12-2, 14-5) Friday, Feb. 1.

Coupeville opens the district tournament at third-ranked and defending state champion Lynden Christian (15-4) Tuesday, Feb. 5.
