The Oak Harbor High School wrestling team won 50-29 at Marysville Getchell Thursday, Jan. 24, putting the finishing touches on a Wesco 3A North championship season.

The Wildcats (4-0, 15-1) now head to the subregional tournament in Stanwood Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1 and 2, where it will join the other Wesco 3A North schools and Ferndale. The top three finishers in each weight class will advance to the regional tournament.

In the win over Marysville Getchell (0-4, 3-12), Oak Harbor was missing several wrestlers who were ill but still rolled to the win.

Oak Harbor coach Mike Crebbin said, "We just put someone else in and they do the job."

He added, "As of late, Kekai Tarrant has really been wrestling well for us at 152.  We want to build on that as we go into districts.  Hopefully the flu is done with us and we get everyone back to full strength.

The Wildcats received wins by falls from Christian Bertram (106 pounds: 1:47), Jeremy Vester (126: 3:28), Jahleel Vester (132: 3:54), Kekai Tarrant (152: 3:37), Jon Laningham (182: 3:35) and Ray Quinday (220: :48).

Other winners were Jacob Fitzgerald (138: 14-6), Cody Fakkema (145: 13-2) and Josh Crebbin (160: forfeit).
