Lynden Christian put and end to Coupeville’s 2008 soccer season Wednesday evening with a 2-1 win in the first round of the district playoffs.

Travis Unema scored two goals for the Lyncs in the first half of the game.

Coupeville’s Taylor Anthony scored at the 63-minute mark with a shot that beat Lynden Christian goal keeper Alex Hansen to narrow the lead, but the Wolves were unable to put in the tying goal.

“We finished really strong and left it all on the field in the second half,” coach Paul Mendes said. “We were beaten by a good team and played it real close down to the last minute of the game.”

Coupeville ends the season with a 4-15 overall record.
