Oak Harbor junior golfer Phil Reedy is tied for the lead after the first 18 holes of the District-1 Washington Junior Golf Association championship at the Whidbey Golf and Country Club.

Playing in the boys 14 to 15-year-old division, Reedy and Dylan Stensland from Everett carded scores of even-par 72 on Monday.

Also playing in the 14 to 15-year-old division is Oak Harbor’s Judd Ford who shot a 75 in the opening round.

Junior golfers are vying for positions in the state tournament slated for Fircrest Country Club in Tacoma July 23 through 25.

In the boys 16 to 17-year-old division, 11 players from the district will continue on to the state tournament, along with eight golfers from the 14 to 15-year-old age bracket.

Five 12 to 13-year-old golfers will advance and six from the 8 to 11-year-old age group will play in the state championship.

On the girls side of the tournament, Andrea Sutter carded a 90 in the first round and will need to shoot a great score in the final 18 holes to reach the state tournament.

Only two golfers in her 16 to 17-year-old age division will advance.
