28-21.

No, that's not a football score. It's the tally of Cedar Park Christian's win over the Coupeville High School girls basketball team in the season opener Thursday, Nov. 29, in Bothell.

Coupeville coach David King, in his debut as the Wolves' varsity coach, said, "We did play tough defense, we just couldn't put the ball in the basket."

No player in the game scored in double figures and no one sank a three pointer.

The Wolves were led by Makana Stone and Hailey Hammer with six points each. Breeanna Messner added four, Jai'Lysa Hoskins and Amanda Fabrizi had two each and Bessie Walstad one.

King said the poor shooting extended to the foul line where Coupeville hit just three of 16 tries.

He said, "We have been preaching it (free-throw shooting) and practicing it, but it is not happening yet."

Laura Goodnight led Cedar Park with eight points, 15 rebounds and six steals.

The Eagles led at the quarters 8-6, 20-10 and 27-12.

Coupeville plays at Meridian at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.
