Cascade defeats Oak Harbor again | Swimming

In a battle of Wesco swimming heavyweights, Cascade came out on top of Oak Harbor, Kamiak and Stanwood at Kamiak Thursday, Oct. 18.

The four-team meet finished the regular season for Oak Harbor; district is Nov. 2 and 3 at Marysville-Pilchuck.

Undefeated Cascade (17-0) picked up wins against all three opponents, including 109-74 over Oak Harbor. 4A Kamiak (16-2) also topped Oak Harbor 99-84. The Wildcats defeated Stanwood (8-9) 120-50.

3A Oak Harbor (11-3) came into the meet with only one loss, that to 4A Cascade Sept. 24. The Wildcats were hurt by the lack of a dive team; Cascade and Kamiak earned all 15 points in the event.

Emily Huffer snared Oak Harbor's only individual win, taking the 100 backstroke (1:01.53). The event was Oak Harbor's best as Therese Desquitado finished second (1:06.85) and Mollie Briddell sixth (1:09.68).

The Wildcats went 2-3 in the 500 freestyle behind Marissa Morris (5:26.53) and Hannah Schroeder (5:47.42).

Huffer was also second in the 100 butterfly (1:00.06).

Third: Morris, 200 free, 2:05.42; 200 medley relay, Desquitado, Emily Schroeder, Huffer, Concepcion, 2:01.42; 400 free relay, Briddell, Vagt, Nicole Vogt, Morris, 4:08.8.

Fourth: Concepcion, 100 free, 58.67; Emily Schroeder, 100 breast, 1:16.66.

Fifth: Vagt, 100 fly, 1:09.67.

Sixth: Emily Schroeder, 200 IM, 2:32.63; Concepcion, 50 free, 26.91; Vogt, 100 fly, 1:10.49; Briddell, 100 free, 59.36; Tricia Desquitado, 100 breast, 1:21.14; 200 medley relay (names not reported), 2:08.83.

Seventh: Hannah Schroeder, 200 free, 2:18.28; Tricia Desquitado, 200 IM, 2:36.48; Danae Nash, 500 free, 6:16.62.

Eighth: Vogt, 200 free, 2:18.92; Sarah Baxter, 100 breast, 1:26.05; 200 free relay (names not reported) 2:02.9; 400 free relay (names not reported), 4:32.82.
