Granite Falls spoiled Senior Night for the Coupeville High School soccer team, beating the Wolves 5-0 Thursday, Oct. 18, at Mickey Clark Field.

Coach Dan d'Almeida said, "We took a big step back; there was a lack of focus."

The Tigers (8-5, 9-6) scored early. D'Almeida said, "We deflated quickly after that goal."

He added that his club had played much better the second time through the schedule until last night, putting together a string of strong matches: "Maybe we were overconfident. We didn't practice very well this week; we need to keep working hard."

"Give Granite Falls credit," he said, "they brought a lot of speed out there."

Coupeville seniors Madison Tisa-McPhee, Kelsey Pape, Vanessa Bernales, Kelsey Miranda, Amanda d'Almeida, Anna Bailey, Haley Marx and Rachel Wenzel played at home for the final time.

Coupeville (1-12, 1-14) closes out the regular season Monday at 6 p.m. at King's (11-2, 13-2), then enters district play Wednesday, Oct. 24 (time, place and opponent are yet to be determined).
