With two games left, the Oak Harbor High School football team already has a playoff slot secured.

District 1, which includes the 10 Western Conference 3A schools and Ferndale of the Northwest Conference, receives six berths out of 32 in the opening round of the playoffs.

Oak Harbor can finish no lower than the fifth seed regardless of the outcome of its final two regular season games.

At 7 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 19, Oak Harbor plays Marysville-Pilchuck in a game that will determine first and second place in the Western Conference 3A North.

The following Friday, Oct. 26, the five Wesco 3A North schools will play the five Wesco 3A South schools. The two first-place teams play for the first and second seed into the playoffs; the two second-place teams play for the third and fourth seeds; and the two third-place teams will play for the fifth and sixth seeds.

If Ferndale finishes its season undefeated (it is currently 7-0), it will receive the second seed and the Wesco teams will be bumped down a spot. If Ferndale does not go undefeated, it will be seeded by its winning percentage compared to the Wesco schools, and the teams will be slotted accordingly.

The top three seeds play at home in the first round of the playoffs.
