After a series of tense matches, the Oak Harbor High School volleyball team finally had a no-doubter, thumping visiting Marysville-Getchell 3-0 Tuesday, Oct. 2.
The Wildcats cruised to a 25-5, 25-12, 25-12 sweep over the winless Chargers (0-2, 0-8).
Oak Harbor coach Kerri Molitor called the win a "great overall effort from the whole team…The team came together nicely tonight."
Kelsey Rankin got things rolling with 14 consecutive serves and three aces in the lopsided first-game win.
Wildcat setters combined for 30 assists. Taylor Neinhuis dished out 19, and Hailey Beecher added 11.
Beecher "did a great job setting in her varsity debut," Molitor said.
Roshel Muzzall was "consistent on serve receive," Molitor said and added eight kills.
Amelia Berner "served tough and played solid defense," according to Molitor, and finished with four aces.
Kayleigh Harper topped the match with 15 kills.
Oak Harbor (2-1, 4-5) goes to Marysville-Pilchuck (1-1, 4-4) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9.
