Oak Harbor falls to 1st-place Spartans | Tennis

Stanwood continued its dominance of Wesco 3A North tennis with a 7-0 win over visiting Oak Harbor Monday, Oct. 1.
The 11-1 Spartans took each individual match in straight sets.
Oak Harbor coach Horace Mells said, "Stanwood is the top team in our division and one of the top teams in the league. Even though the scores do not reflect it, some of the matches were competitive for the most part. Hopefully players will learn from this experience and step up their play in the four remaining matches."
Singles: 1, William Southard lost 0-6, 0-6; 2, David Kusnick lost 2-6, 2-6; 3, Carter Saar lost 2-6, 0-6; 4, Harrison Miller lost 3-6, 1-6.
Doubles: 1, Tom Dale/Jacob Nelson lost 0-6, 0-6; 2, Jozef Mendoza/Sean Kelley lost 0-6, 2-6; 3, Casiano Atienza/Antonio Unpingco lost 2-6, 2-6.
Oak Harbor (1-4, 3-9) now has three straight 3:30 p.m. home matches: Everett (5-7), Wednesday, Oct. 3; Marysville Getchell (3-8), Thursday, Oct. 4; and Shorecrest (8-4), Monday, Oct. 8.
