After four exciting sets, the Oak Harbor volleyball team crushed Everett in the fifth to edge the visiting Seagulls 3-2 Thursday, Sept. 27.
The Wildcats dominated the fifth game 15-4 after the clubs split the first four. Oak Harbor won the first and third, 25-17, 25-20; and Everett (0-1, 3-4) took the second and fourth, 25-18, 25-20.
Oak Harbor coach Kerri Molitor said, "The girls played so much better than Tuesday night (a loss at Stanwood). We were a little up and down, then when it came to that fifth game, something clicked and they came out so strong. They really felt what it was like to play consistently through a whole set."
Setter Taylor Nienhuis distributed 47 assists as Kayleigh Harper hammered 21 kills and Roshel Muzzall 18.
Muzzall also had two aces and Amelia Berner three.
Defensively, Nienhuis collected 14 digs and Muzzall 22, and Harper put up seven blocks.
Oak Harbor (1-1, 3-5) entertains Marysville Getchell (0-1, 0-7) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2.
