Wildcats swamp Snohomish, Glacier Peak | Swimming

The Oak Harbor High School swim team upped its record to 5-0 with a sweep of the Snohomish schools Monday, Sept. 17, at John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool.

The Wildcats drubbed both, topping Snohomish 104-66 and Glacier Peak 118-52.

The Wildcats picked up two state qualifying times when Emily Huffer won the 50-meter freestyle (28.04) and 100 backstroke (1:06.63).

Coach Amy Merkley said, "We are just on the verge (of posting a state qualifying time) in the 200 free relay, Akasha Trisler is close in the 100 breaststroke and Marissa Morris isn't far off in the 400 free."

She added, "For this early in the season, that is a good thing."

Huffer, Trisler, Morris and Irysh Concepcion won the 200 free relay in 1:59.16 (state time, 1:58.96); Trisler the 100 breast in 1:21.48 (1:19.95) and Morris the 400 free in 4:54.86 (4:47.63).
