Schrum, Pelroy place 8th in state meet | Track

Oak Harbor senior Joshua Schrum and Coupeville senior Mitch Pelroy each scored in the state track championships last weekend.
Both finished eighth: Schrum in the 1,600 (4:21.47) at the 3A meet at Tacoma’s Mount Tahoma High School and Pelroy in the 200 (23.34) at the 1A meet at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.
Pelroy also qualified for two other events and ran 10th in the 300 hurdles (41.89) and 15th in the 100 (11:43).
He was joined at the 1A meet by teammate Larry Hurlburt who finished 11th in the 400 (52.27).
In addition to Schrum, Oak Harbor was represented at the 3A meet by six other individuals and a relay team.
Senior Josiah Miller placed 11th in both the 100 (10.94) and 200 (22.97).
Senior Matt Reith was 12th in the 3,200 (9:37.74), and John Rodeheffer, the race’s only freshman, finished 16th (9:53.51).
Senior Cody Hernkind grabbed 14th in the long jump (19-08.25).
For the Wildcat girls, senior Dominique Jackson placed 14th in the discus (101) and junior Christina Wicker ran 16th in the 400 (1:03.72).
The 4x200 relay team of seniors Christina Alexander and Maura McKole and freshmen Sierra Seabolt and Jessica Hollins placed 16th (1:50.37).
