Coupeville begins tri-district action | Track

The Coupeville track team received several solid efforts in the first day of the tri-district track meet at King's Woolsey Stadium Thursday, May 17.
Most of the day was dedicated to preliminaries for Saturday's finals at 11 a.m., but the finals for several events were held.
Grace LaPoint finished ninth in the javelin (94-06) and Nick Streubel was 12th in the discus (117-09). The top five boys and the top six girls earn spots in the state 1A meet at Eastern Washington University in Cheney Friday and Saturday, May 25 and 26.
In the preliminaries, Mitch Pelroy posted the second-best time in the 300 hurdles (42.28), sixth best the 200 (23.32) and seventh best in the 100 (11.71).
He also joined Matthew Hampton, Larry Hurlburt and Sam Landau to clock the sixth-best 4x400 time (3:39.57).
Hurlburt added the fifth-best time in the 400 (53.11), and Hampton the 16th best in the 800 (2:13.59).
For the girls, Anna Bailey was 12th in the 400 (1:09.66). The 4x200 relay of Bailey, Jai'Lysa Hoskins, Marisa Etzell and LaPoint was 10th (1:54.97); the 4x400 relay of Bailey, LaPoint, Etzell and Cassidi Rosenkrance 11th (4:30.14); and the 4x100 relay of Etzell, Hoskins, Rachel Wenzel and Nicole Becker 12th (55.29).
