Falcons sweep Coupeville | Fastpitch

The South Whidbey fastpitch team cranked out 13 hits in each game to sweep a double header over visiting Coupeville Friday, April 20.

The Falcons won 13-11 and 9-2 and jumped over Coupeville into fourth place in the Cascade Conference.

The tone for the day was set early as South Whidbey scored six runs in the first inning of the first game and led 13-2 after three innings. A seven-run fourth helped Coupeville get back in the game, but single runs in the sixth and seventh weren't enough to wipe away the huge Falcon lead.

The Wolves finished with 11 hits, two each by Madeline Roberts and Haley Sherman. Hailey Hammer ripped a double.

The Falcons (5-6, 6-6) continued their strong hitting in the second game but the Wolves' bats went silent. Sherman and McKayla Bailey collected the only Coupeville hits.

Coupeville (4-7, 5-8) goes to Cedarcrest (8-1) at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 26.
