The Coupeville soccer team showed off its depth in a 3-1 win at Friday Harbor Wednesday, April 18.
Coach Paul Mendes rested some of his regulars after a tough match the previous evening, and the modified lineup produced the nonleague win.
The Wolves struck early when Dylan Tack, assisted by David Hefflinger, scored in the fourth minute.
The Wolves' next score in the 20th minute was the "highlight of the day," according to Mendes. Nathan Lamb volleyed in the score after a 30-yard, pinpoint cross from Hefflinger.
"It was a beauty," Mendes said.
Friday Harbor's Sam Stewart converted in the 47th minute, then Lamb struck again in the 70th minute for the game's final score.
Mendes said, "Some players needed to sit out. It was a good opportunity for others to get some playing time."
Brett Arnold, normally a starting defender, took over in goal for Zach Forland, out with an injury.
Coupeville (3-6, 5-6) journeys to Granite Falls (1-7, 2-8) at 5 p.m. Monday, April 23.
