After tying Glacier Peak earlier this season, the Oak Harbor High School soccer team was hoping to pick up a win this time around, but the Grizzlies defeated the Wildcats 4-0 in Snohomish Monday, April 16.
Glacier Peak upped its record to 3-4-3 with the win while Oak Harbor fell to 0-9-1.
Coach Brian Thompson said, "We had a good first half with the ball kept in our end of the field a lot of the time. The second half was different after the third goal. Our players let themselves stop believing they could come back. We now have to fight back those feelings and play a better game mentally and physically. Sometimes the pressure to win overrides the reasons we play soccer, to hone our skills, have great competition and just enjoy the game."
The Wildcats face Mountlake Terrace (3-7-1) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.Contact Whidbey News Times Sports editor Jim Waller at firstname.lastname@example.org or 360-675-6611 ext. 5060.
