Mountlake Terrace scored in every inning to trip up the visiting Oak Harbor High School fastpitch team 10-3 Monday, March 26.
Hannah Baisch and Maddy Kristjanson combined for eight of the Hawks' (1-1, 3-2) 13 hits; each hit a home run.
Hannah Salmons led the Oak Harbor offense with two singles and a run. Shawna Steele doubled and drove in a run and Samm Zimmerman also doubled.
Marissa Fakkema, Natalie Fiallos and Kelsey Rankin added singles.
Emily Saar took the loss but did pick up five strikeouts in five innings. Emily Hunt fanned two in two innings of relief.
Coach Jess Weikle said, "Though we lost today, we were proud of the girls’ willingness to fight to the end. We were especially proud of Natalie’s (Fiallos) base running in the last inning when she scored from first base on a ground ball to the third base. Each day brings a new situation and the girls are learning how to overcome those challenging moments."
The Wildcats (0-3, 2-5) play Meadowdale (1-2, 1-3) at Hillcrest Elementary School at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 28.
