Coupeville falls to Cougars | Boys basketball

Lakewood rang up over 20 points in each quarter on the way to a 95-36 win over the visiting Coupeville High School boys basketball team Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Coupeville was down 22-6 heading into the second quarter when its offense perked up and scored 17 points, but the Wolves couldn't keep pace as the Cougars led 46-23 at halftime.

Lakewood (5-7, 6-12) kept the heat on in the third quarter and outscored Coupeville 28-6.

Gavin O'Keefe topped the Wolves with 10 points. Aaron Curtin scored seven, Taylor Ebersole six, Nick Streubel six, Drew Chan three, Mitch Pelroy two and Carson Risner two.

Eleven Lakewood players scored, and three combined to hit nine three-pointers.

Coupeville (0-12, 0-16) finishes the regular season with two home games, starting with Archbishop Murphy (7-6, 8-10) Friday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. and then South Whidbey (2-9, 5-12) Saturday at 2 p.m.
