Oak Harbor wins division with unbeaten season | Swimming

A 107-75 win over Cascade at Kamiak Thursday, Jan. 26, earned the Oak Harbor High School swim and dive team an undefeated season in the Wesco North and the division championship.

In the other side of the double-dual meet, Oak Harbor (9-0, 12-3) lost a non-league contest 121-58 to Wesco South champion Kamiak. The Knights (15-0) also beat Cascade (3-4, 4-9) 128-53 and have won 61 straight dual meets.

Kamiak collected the top times in nine of the 12 events, and Oak Harbor won two. One of those was Jacob Jepsen's school record 1:47.78 time in the 200-yard freestyle, topping the old mark of 1:48.31.

Brother Josh Jepsen won the 200 individual medley (2:06.14).

Jacob Jepsen was second in the 100 backstroke (56.3), and Josh Jepsen was runner-up in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.83); both were state-qualifying times.

The Jepsens, Caley Powers and Kevin Levy finished second in the 200 medley relay in a state qualifying time of 1:45.23, and they were second in the 200 free relay (1:35.41).

John Kaltenbach placed second in diving (135.2).

Next is the district meet at Marysville-Pilchuck Feb. 10 and 11.

Thirds: Levy, 50 free, 24.2), Powers, 100 fly, 57.46.

Fourth: Kaltenbach, 100 fly, 1:04.03; Levy, 100 free, 55.15; Toren Wood, 500 free, 5:44.75; 400 free relay, Wood, Kaltenbach, Keaton Dieter, Jeron Kosbar, 3:56.24.

Fifth: Kosbar, 200 IM, 2:29.2; Powers, 100 back, 1:06.9; 200 medley relay, Wood, Kosbar, Kaltenbach, David Kusnick, 1:58.26; 200 free relay, Adriel Eckart, Tucker Lundstrom, Dieter, Jaxon Wolfe, 1:48.74.

Sixth: Wood, 200 free, 2:05.83; Dakota Powers, 200 IM, 2:29.75, 100 breast, 1:17.54; Kusnick, 50 free, 25.93; Dieter, 100 free, 1:00.33; Clayton Livermore, 100 back, 1:16.04.
