The Whidbey Island Boxing Club captured three titles at the annual Tacoma Golden Gloves Championships last weekend.

Devon Burgess, a Navy flight technician, won the 201-pound open senior division (18 years old and above), which qualified him for the national title Feb. 28 in Colorado Springs.

Burgess is the No. 1-ranked fighter in the heavyweight division in the Pacific Northwest Region.

In the junior division, Mike Rettus won the 156-pound class for 15-year-olds, and Mike Farrell took the 200-pound division for 16-year-olds.

Nathan Sapanza placed third in the 178-pound, 17-year-old division.
