It was too much Peyton Spencer.

The Granite Falls sharp shooter scored 27 points to lead the Tigers to a 57-34 win over the visiting Coupeville girls basketball team Thursday, Jan. 5.

Wolves' coach Jackie Bykonen said Spencer "killed us." She added, overall, the Tigers "were faster and moved the ball very well."

While Spencer was running up 27 points, no Coupeville player tallied more than Jai'Lysa Hoskins' seven. Hailey Hammer scored six, Cassidi Rosenkrance five, Lauren Escalle four, Taya Boonstra four, Bessie Walstad four, Katie Smith two and Bree Messner two.

Bykonen praised the hustle of Rosenkrance and Hoskins who  "played hard and created a lot of turnovers."

The Tigers (3-2, 7-4) used their quickness to sprint to a 21-7 first-quarter lead. The margin was 30-14 at the half and 42-22 after three quarters.

Coupeville (0-5, 1-8) hosts Sultan (1-4, 3-7) Monday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m.
