Fall OHHS teams among league's best in 2011

Oak Harbor High School athletic teams made an impact on the Western Conference 3A races and playoffs this fall.

The boys cross country team finished second in league, first in district and 11th at state. The girls were second at league, second at district and 10th at state.

For only the third time in school history, both the boys and girls teams qualified for state in the same season.

The swim and dive team placed third at district and qualified eight swimmers for the state meet where they earned 17th place.

The volleyball team placed second the Wesco race and qualified for the district tournament.

The football team won its first eight games and finished second in Wesco and received its first playoff spot since 2007.
