A slow start and a turf field combined to cause problems for the Coupeville soccer team as it fell 6-0 at Cedarcrest Thursday, Sept. 15.
Coach Mike Thornton said, "We started out slow, and doing that on a turf field is not good. Many of the new players are not use to the turf and the speed of play."
The Wolves fell behind 5-0 in the first half. Thornton said the team captains (Amanda d'Almeida, Haley Marx and Cassidi Rosenkrance) and senior Grace LaPoint spoke to their teammates at halftime and the level of play improved the second half against the Red Wolves (1-0, 3-0).
Thornton said, "We have a number of new players, so it will take a few more games for them to figure it out."
Coupeville (0-2, 1-2) hosts King's (2-0, 3-0) Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m.
