Islanders take top spot in soccer tournament

The Baker Islanders G98 soccer team won the girls 12/13 division in the Diadora Legacy Cup tournament in Marysville July 29 to 31.

The Whidbey team opened the tournament by thumping Legacy Maroon 5-0. After a 0-0 tie with NWN Blue, the Islanders whipped the MVP Marauders 6-1.

In the championship game, the Islanders slipped by NWN Blue 3-1.

The Islanders are coached by Ryan Baker and Troy Cowan. Team members include Bailee Cowan, Hannah Chmielewski, Gillian Crossley, Cloe Amsler, Emily Brown, Allison Henry, Cassandra Neil, Camryn Ray, Kaitlynn Curtis, Autumn Coker, Kalia Littlejohn, Mia Littlejohn, Jennifer Turnek,  Courtney Coker, Mary Johnson, Sage Renninger and Mariella Saludares.
