Royal 10th at Junior Olympics

Adrianna Royal finished 10th in the 1,500 meters at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic national championship meet in Wichita Sunday, July 31, to lead the local runners in the final stages of the competition.

Royal, running in the young women's division (ages 17/18) for the Federal Way Track Club, posted a 5:02.2 in the race.

Alex Laiblin, running unattached, earned the 28th best time (5:31.23) in the intermediate girls (15/16) 1,500 preliminaries Friday.

Laura Rodeheffer from the Whidbey Island Running Club placed 30th (5:53.24) in the midget girls (11/12) 1,500 Sunday.

Christina Wicker of WIRC was 33rd (1:01.37) in the intermediate girls 400 preliminaries Friday.

Dakota Powers did not place in the youth boys (13/14) 3,000 Saturday.
