Babe Ruth: 1 rough inning stops Oak Harbor

Three pitchers combined for a two-hitter, but the Oak Harbor Babe Ruth baseball team fell to visiting Anacortes 5-4 Thursday, May 26.

Anacortes scored all five of its runs in the sixth inning on two hits, two errors and four walks.

Clayton Doughty pitched three hitless innings to start the game for Oak Harbor. Preston Rankin followed with two perfect innings before running into trouble in the sixth, then Daniel Wolfe took over in relief.

Oak Harbor scored two in the first on a walk to Rankin, Brent Mertin's double and a two-run single by Ben Fikse.

Doughty singled in the sixth and scored on Wolfe's double.

Oak Harbor rallied in the seventh, scoring one run on Dustin Contin's single; however, the rally died with two men on.
