Baseball: Smith chosen for all-star game

Coupeville senior Ian Smith was recently selected to play in the all-state feeder baseball game at Bellingham's Joe Martin Stadium Thursday, June 2, at 5 p.m.

A series of regional feeder games across the state feature the top senior players, and from those games players are chosen to participate in the all-state games later in June.

At Bellingham, the players will face off in two eight-inning games. Smith is scheduled to play four innings at shortstop and four innings of second base and serve as a reserve pitcher in the second game.

Smith was an all-Cascade Conference infielder this spring.
