Track: Ilyankoff wins, Hammer sets record at tri-district

Coupeville's Kyra Ilyankoff won the javelin and Hunter Hammer set a new school record in the discus at the first day of the tri-district track meet at King's Thursday, May 19.

Ilyankoff hurled the javelin 117-09 for her win, and she finished fifth in the shot put in 31-05.75.

Hammer tossed the discus 148 feet, topping his previous school record of 145-8, and finished in third place.

Tyler King ran second in the 1,600 in 4:22.56.

Grace LaPoint finished 16th in the javelin (82-07).

The top five in each event qualify for the state meet at Eastern Washington University in Cheney May 27 and 28.

The majority of the finals will be Saturday, May 21, at King's starting at 11:30 a.m.
