Coupeville's Lexi Blanchette lost to Jenny Price of Bear Creek of Redmond in a tri-district play-in match in Coupeville Tuesday, May 17.
Price won the match 6-3, 6-1 and advances to the tri-district tournament.
Blanchette was the alternate but earned the chance at the play-in match when teammate Emily Burchfield, who defeated Blanchette for second place in the district tournament, was ill.
Coupeville's district doubles champions Jessica Riddle and Amanda d'Almeida begin tri-district play today, May 19, at the Amy Yee Tennis Center in Seattle.
Last fall in boys tennis, Coupeville's Ben Hayes won the district singles title and Nathan Lamb and Sam Weaver the doubles crown and earned spots in the quad-district tournament, which begins Friday, May 20, at the Yee Center.
