Battling wind, rain and three other teams, the Oak Harbor girls golf team finished third at the Golf Club of Kenwanda Wednesday, April 13.

Shorewood won the four-team, nine-hole match on the par-37 course with 97 Stableford points. Glacier Peak shot 90, Oak Harbor 79 and Meadowdale 16.

The Wildcats were led by Millie Goebel who finished tied for fourth overall with 22 points.

Annie Leete scored 17, and Sasha Olson and Mara Cortez had 16 each. Katie Brockway finished with eight and Bre Roderos seven.

Coach Andy Wesley said, "I feel the team is right on pace to perform well at league and districts.  We are currently one of the top three teams in our league."

Oak Harbor played without Marina Bankowski who is out for the year with a leg injury.

Wesley said, "I am hoping some of the young players can step up and fill her shoes."

The Wildcats play in the Burlington Invitational at the Skagit Country Club Monday, April 18, at 11 a.m. The next home match is Thursday, April 21, at 3 p.m. with Mountlake Terrace, Everett and Lynnwood.
