Boys golf: Shorecrest edges Oak Harbor

Shorecrest nipped the Oak Harbor boys golf team by two strokes in a three-team match at the Whidbey Golf and Country Club Tuesday, April 5.

The Scots finished with 235 strokes, edging the Wildcats with 237. Shorewood trailed with 251.

Shorewood’s Chris Babcock took medalist honors with a 38, followed by Oak Harbor’s Greg Martin at 40 and Judd Ford at 42.

Shorecrest had no individual finish among the top four, but bunched its golfers in the fifth through ninth spots to get the win.

Oak Harbor’s third-best score came from David Bunch in 12th with a 54. Caleb Knaack carded a 56 and Quinton Wallace 61.

Next Monday, April 11, the Wildcats will compete in the Tom Dolan Memorial Invitational at the Everett Golf and Country Club. The next home match is Tuesday, April 19, with Lynnwood, Everett and Glacier Peak at 3 p.m.
