Track: Coupeville, Oak Harbor athletes among state leaders

Several members of the Coupeville and Oak Harbor high school track teams own some of the state's top times after the first round of meets.
Defending state champion Tyler King of Coupeville holds the best time in the 1A 1,600 of 4:20.5 and the third-best in the 3,200 (10:01.7).
Teammate Hunter Hammer has the fourth-best 1A shot put mark (50-06.5) and seventh-best discus mark (141-01).
King, Chase Bates, Mitch Pelroy and Will Hoskins have the 1A eighth-best time in the 4x400 relay (3:46.03).
For Oak Harbor, Allison Duvenez has the third-best time in the 3A 300 hurdles (47.83) and Adrianna Royal has the fifth-best 3A 3,200 time (11:49.02).
Josiah Miller is in the top 10 in three events: second, 200, 22:87; eighth, 100, 11.37; and eighth, triple jump, 41-05.
Coupeville competes again at South Whidbey Thursday, March 31, at 4 p.m.
Oak Harbor goes to Shorewood April 7 at 3:30 p.m.
