Oak Harbor dominated the ball but not the score and fell in a soccer shootout to Lynnwood Friday, March 25, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.
Both teams scrapped through a scoreless regulation period and two overtimes before squaring off in a shootout.
The Royals won the shootout 4-2 to secure the 1-0 victory, their first in five matches. The loss dropped the Wildcats to 0-3 in Wesco play and 0-5 overall.
Oak Harbor coach Brian Thompson said, “We played a great game tonight…Yes, we did lose, but we possessed the ball most of the time. I was very proud of the team, every one of them played with heart and dignity.”
The Wildcats go to Meadowdale (2-3, 1-3) Saturday, March 26, for a 5 p.m. match at Edmonds Stadium and then play Mountlake Terrace (0-3, 0-3) at home at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 28.
