Two middle school wrestlers from Oak Harbor captured titles in the district wrestling tournament at Anacortes High School March 19.
Eighth-graders Mark Johnston, who went undefeated this season at 117 pounds, and Wiatt Charlesworth (132) captured their weight classes.
Second-place finishes were earned by Jeremy Vester (97) and Jackson Constant (217).
Coach Peter Esvelt said "other notable performances" were made by Christian Bertram, Orien Altman, Grant Gerber, Koby Cosper, Conner Parmenter, Jerry Rios and Jacob Sapanza.
As a team, Wildcat United, which combines athletes from Oak Harbor and North Whidbey middle schools, placed third in the varsity competition.
Esvelt said, "This group was a great mix of seventh- and eighth-grade talent which will provide a great foundation for next year’s middle school team and another great group of freshmen to add to the high school team."
