Tennis: Wildcats lose 6-1

Meadowdale topped the Wildcat tennis team 6-1 Wednesday, March 23, in Oak Harbor.

Alexa Holmly dropped the first set in fourth singles 5-7 and then rebounded to pick up Oak Harbor's only point with 6-4, 6-2 wins in the final two sets.

Cady O'Dell (6-4, 3-6, 4-6) in first singles and Shannon Neilon (7-5, 5-7, 1-6) in third singles each won their first set but fell in the next two.

In second singles, Belen Cifuentes lost 2-6, 3-6.

Oak Harbor dropped all three doubles matches: No 1, Jennifer Bowers/Shoko Yamaguchi, 2-6, 4-6; No. 2, Jordan Faralan/Cassandra Gianino, 2-6, 0-6; and No. 3, Molly Van Dam/Jennifer Fremd, 0-6, 2-6.

The Mavericks raised their record to 2-2.

Oak Harbor (1-3, 1-2) goes to Arlington (0-2) Thursday, March 24, for a nonleague match. The Wildcats make up Monday's rainout with Lynnwood (0-4, 0-2) here Friday, March 25, at 3:30 p.m.

After a week off, Oak Harbor hosts Shorecrest (2-1, 2-0) April 5 at 3:30 p.m.
