Boys golf: Wildcats nap 2nd, 3rd in opening matches

The Oak Harbor High School boys golf team opened the season by finishing second and third in two three-team matches this week.
Tuesday, March 22, Oak Harbor was edged by one stroke for second by Shorecrest (249-250) in a nine-hole match won by Glacier Peak (215) at the Whidbey Golf and Country Club.
Judd Ford was second in the medalist race with a 41. He was followed by Greg Martin (45), Quinton Wallace (51), Caleb Knack (53) and David Bunch (60).
Wednesday, March 23, at Everett's Legion Golf Course, Everett defeated Oak Harbor and Mountlake Terrace 211-237-252 in nine holes.
Ford was third individually with a 42. Wallace shot 47, Bunch 48, Martin 50 and Knack 50.
The Wildcats are off until April 5 when they host Shorecrest and Shorewood at 3 p.m.
