The Oak Harbor High School girls golf team finished fourth out of 12 schools at the season-opening Whidbey Shootout Monday, March 21.

Redmond won the event on the wet Whidbey Golf and Country Club course with 451 strokes. The Wildcats scored a 546.

Oak Harbor coach Andy Wesley said, "Millie (Goebel) and Sasha (Olson) played very well for their first 18-hole match this year. We lost to two 3A schools (Glacier Peak and Shorewood) so we have some work to do in order to meet the team's goal of league champions."

Shorewood (528) and Glacier Peak (538), the Wildcats' Wesco 3A rivals, finished second and third in the Shootout.

Goebel shot 100, Olson 103, Annie Leete 112, Mara Cortez 113, Lily Mosolino 118 and Marina Bankowski 120.

Wesley said the teams were appreciative of the use of the WG&CC facility that gave "the golfers the opportunity to play at a high-quality course."

The Wildcats play at Mountlake Terrace and Everett Wednesday, March 23, at 3 p.m.
