Swim: Oak Harbor finishes 10th at state meet

Oak Harbor, led by strong efforts from Yale Rosen and Jacob Jepsen, placed 10th in the state high school 3A swim meet this weekend at Federal Way’s King County Aquatic Center.

The Wildcats earned100 points in the meet won by Mercer Island with 350. Mercer Island is coached by Oak Harbor graduate Chauntelle Johnson and has won six straight titles.

In the 2A meet, Coupeville’s lone entry, Cole Weinstein, placed sixth in the 500-yard free style (5:03.32) and 15th in the 200 free (1:56.28).

Rosen grabbed sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.97) and eighth in the 50 free (22.51).

He joined Jacob Jepson, Brandon Vagt and Josh Jepsen to snare sixth in the 200 medley relay (1:41.76); then teamed up with the Jepsens and Ben Cardinal to earn ninth in the 200 free relay (1:32.88).

Jacob Jepsen was ninth in the 100 backstroke (55.25) and 10th in the 200 individual medley (2:01.58).

The 200 IM was a strong event for Oak Harbor, as Josh Jepsen (13th, 2:03.7) and Price Hu (15th, 2:04.81) also scored.

Josh Jepsen added a 12th in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.88), and Hu (55.53) and Vagt (55.85) finished 13th and 16th in the 100 butterfly.
