Moving & Grooving’s Island Flyers trampoline and tumbling team opened its 2011 season with a pair of successful meets over the last two weekends.

At the Crazy Socks Meet in Mount Vernon Jan. 29, the team walked away with 11 firsts, seven seconds and three thirds.

Last Saturday at Maple Valley's Frosty Frolic Invitational, awards were given to the top three in each level on each event regardless of age group or gender. Each Flyer brought home at least one medal.

Lauren Aspery and Lauren Bayne were each two-time medalists, with Aspery winning Level 6 double mini and taking third in Level 6 trampoline. Bayne won Level 4 tumbling and placed third in Level 5 trampoline.

Other medalists included Lilly Hammitt, first, Level 4 tumbling; Hailee Blau, first, Level 5 double mini; Kelly Gruenwald, second, Level 4 tumbling; Amaya Rittierodt, second, Level 6 trampoline; Juliet Aspery, third, Level 5 tumbling; and McKenzie Meyer, third, Level 5 double mini.

The team returns to action March 5 with another competition in Mount Vernon.
