In the first seven weeks of the season, the Coupeville High School boys basketball team won only three of 14 games. In a span of four days last week, the Wolves doubled the win total.
Coupeville finished the week's trifecta last Friday, Jan. 28, by defeating visiting Granite Falls 50-44.
The Wolves (4-7, 6-11) journey to Sultan (4-7, 7-8) tonight, Jan. 31, and then host Lakewood (3-8, 6-11) Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. They wrap up the regular season at home Friday with Archbishop Murphy (9-2, 11-5).
Coupeville jumped on Granite Falls early, going up 15-7 in the first quarter, but the last-place Tigers (1-10, 1-16) made it interested by pushing with in two, 23-21, at half time and taking a lead, 35-34, going into the final frame.
The Wolves kept their poise and pulled out their third win of the week.
Hunter Hammer completed a strong week with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Ian Smith added 13 points, Ben Hayes eight, Tyler King four and Nevin Miranda three.
