Still looking for some consistent offense, the Oak Harbor girls soccer team was blanked 3-0 by Meadowdale Thursday, Oct. 14, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.
It was the 10th shutout for Oak Harbor as the Wildcats fell to 1-10 and 2-11.
Oak Harbor was down 1-0 at the half but could have been up 2-1 "if we would have converted half our opportunities," coach Jeff Laiblin said.
The Mavericks (6-5, 8-5) scored two late goals as Oak Harbor was pushing to score.
Laiblin said the player of the game was freshman Annie Leete, who was forced into goalie duty with the Wildcats' top two keepers out with injuries.
He said, "Annie stepped up with only the game warmup for practice and did fantastic filling in."
The Wildcats journey to Mountlake Terrace (2-8, 2-10) Tuesday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 p.m. The Hawks nipped Oak Harbor in a shootout Sept. 23.
