Tennis: 'Cats drop match to first place Meadowdale

The Meadowdale boys tennis wrapped up the Wesco 3A title by defeating host Oak Harbor 7-0 Monday, Oct. 11.
The Mavericks upped their records to 12-0, 13-1; Oak Harbor fell to 4-9, 4-10.
Oak Harbor coach Horace Mells switched up his lineup. No. 2 and 3 singles players Josh Evans and Brandon Vagt teamed up for first doubles and lost 6-3, 6-2. David DeGuzman moved up to second singles and fell 6-1, 6-1.
Will Southard (6-4, 6-0) and Eric Berner (7-6(5), 6-3), who usually play doubles, lost in third and fourth singles.
No. 1 singles Ben Cardinal (6-1, 6_2), No. 2 doubles Max O'Dell/Geoff Worley (6-0, 6-1) and No. 3 doubles Maric Sobreo/Michael Serna (6-1, 6-1) also lost.
Oak Harbor travels to Jackson (14-0) for a nonleague match Wednesday, Oct. 13, and then finishes up the regular season at home with Glacier Peak (10-3, 12-3) Thursday, Oct. 14.
