Coupeville and South Whidbey concluded its three-match tennis series Wednesday, Oct. 6, with the Falcons coming out on top 6-1.

South Whidbey blanked the Wolves in the first two meetings. Nathan Lamb made sure his club wasn't shutout a third time with a hard-fought 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win in third singles.

Coach Ken Stange said, "Nathan is only a sophomore, and

he figures to be our top singles player next season. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do at the top spot next season."

In other singles play, Ben Hayes (6-1, 6-1), Chase Bates (6-3, 7-5) and Sam Weaver (6-2, 6-4) were topped by their Falcon opponents.

In doubles, Nic Anthony/Larry Hurlburt (6-2, 6-1), Ben Wehrman/Jason Knoll (6-1, 6-1) and Brandon Kelley/Esteban Hernandez (6-0, 6-0) lost.

Stange said, "Even though we lost 6-1, we did lose 6-1 to a quality opponent. Also, I was excited to see that many of our players made improvements over the last two meetings with South Whidbey."

Coupeville wraps up its three-match league series with Friday Harbor at home Friday, Oct. 15, at 3 p.m.
